Kharkiv Hosing Challenge 2024
Kharkiv Hosing Challenge 2024:
Summerschool at TU Wien and International Competition of the Norman Foster Foundation.
Topic: Upgrading concrete panel housing and residential neighbourhoods in Ukraine's second largest city.
The content and the requirement profile for this design studio in summer 2024 comprise design concepts for retrofitting and upgrading the war-damaged prefabricated housing estate Saltivka in the north of Kharkiv with the aim of creating safe, lively and energy-efficient neighbourhoods. Specifically, modular systems for buildings and open spaces are to be developed that can be used selectively to renovate existing prefabricated buildings, rebuild destroyed prefabricated buildings and upgrade public spaces.
The summer school started in June 2024 and ended on 10 September 2024 with a final presentation. It was joined by 18 engaged Master's students from TU Wien
