Harbourpolis Odesa 2005

Odesa is the most important port city in the Ukraine and one of the metropolis of the Black Sea region. The headline "Harbourpolis" is looking for a redefinition of the city in dealing with their Harbour Area, but without giving up the operation of the port. The aim of the workshop is to discuss urban visions for a New Odesa Waterfront. The urban framework for this project is composed by the unique grid-system of the 19. Century, the urban heritage of real socialism of the 20. Century and by the current private investors development practice. This conditions and the heritage of world-famous Potemkin stair create an inspiring surrounding for a workshop between three schools of Architecture: Odesa State University, Lviv Polytechnik University and Vienna University of Technology.
